Old bungalow tear-out near Aksarben Village
The Challenge
I remember a teardown off one of those Aksarben Village streets where the old place still had plaster dust in the floor vents and dry rot tucked behind the trim. The crew had already pulled cabinets, and the pile had mixed lath, shingles, and soaked carpet from a basement leak. Omaha weather had turned the driveway slick by noon, which mattered because the access was tight and the neighbors parked close. We had to keep the load moving without leaving splinters, nails, or muddy tracks behind.
The Result
We set the dumpster where the truck could reach it clean, then I walked the crew through the heavier demo first so the load stayed level and safe. We used a magnet sweep around the drive, stacked the long pieces flat, and kept the lid area clear so nobody fought the bin. That kind of cleanup matters in Aksarben Village, where every driveway sits close to somebody else’s front walk. The homeowner got the remodel debris gone fast and the site ready for the next trade.
I liked that you knew the neighborhood and kept my driveway cleaner than I expected.
